Tapisseries
The Aubusson tapisseries have been well known throughout the world since the 14th century. They were born when weavers from Flanders arrived to Aubusson in 1580. The style and tone of the scenes pictured in those tapisseries has changed over time through the centuries, ranging from greenery to hunting scenes. The art of tapisseries lost its glamor by the 17th century and the French revolution, but it came back during the 1930's with artists such as Cocteau, Dufy, Dali, Braque, Calder and Picasso that expressed themselves through wool. Aubusson tapisseries are still blooming today, maintaining a range of traditional skills alive.
